Activities: Be part of a life time experience. This is a very exclusive tour limited to a small number of people. You will be closer to whales than anyone else and contribute to something bigger. You ll get to see whales like no one else. After a half day of training workshop and getting to know the area, you will head out to sea to collect data on whales’ movement, health and habitat to discover trends in their population health and status. The observations you make and data you collect will contribute to our innovative long-term monitoring program supporting the not for profit organisation Humpbacks & High-rises that will educate the community and encourage politicians to protect the bay.
You’ll take part in a wide range of activities, including locating and photographing whales, using an app to describe behavior, surveying the number of whales, measuring water properties and assisting with data analyses at the university. We will be using new technologies such as drones for collecting whale spray and aerial imagery, electronic loggers, and hydrophones.
